Major Diplomatic Breakthrough Appears Close
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has indicated that a significant diplomatic understanding between the United States and Iran may be just hours away, raising hopes of a breakthrough in one of the world’s most closely watched geopolitical disputes.
Speaking about the ongoing negotiations, Sharif said discussions have entered an advanced stage and that efforts are underway to complete the remaining formalities before the agreement is finalised.
“Agreement Could Be Ready Within 24 Hours”
According to Sharif, negotiators have made substantial progress on key issues and are now moving toward the final phase of the process.
“The agreement is nearing completion and could be finalised within the next 24 hours,” he said, expressing confidence that both sides are approaching a mutually acceptable outcome.
He added that preparations are being made for an electronic signing process, after which technical teams from both sides are expected to continue discussions on implementation-related matters.
Pakistan Claims Mediation Role
Sharif said Pakistan has actively supported diplomatic efforts aimed at narrowing differences between Washington and Tehran.
According to him, the discussions have focused on sensitive issues including Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions-related concerns and measures designed to strengthen regional security and stability.
He also acknowledged the role played by multiple international and regional stakeholders in sustaining dialogue between the two countries.

Highlighting the potential significance of the proposed understanding, Sharif described the developing agreement as an opportunity to reduce tensions and create a more predictable security environment across the region.
“This is a historic opportunity that can provide a strong foundation for long-term peace and stability,” he said.
The Pakistani leader further thanked both the United States and Iran for continuing negotiations despite longstanding differences and complex geopolitical challenges.

Any agreement between Washington and Tehran would be closely watched by governments across the world, given its potential impact on regional security, energy markets and international diplomacy.
