Washington: In a strong rebuttal to widespread media speculation, the United States on Friday dismissed reports suggesting that it had supplied new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) to Pakistan. The US Embassy in India clarified that the recent defense contract mentioned in official records only pertains to routine maintenance and spare parts, not fresh missile deliveries.
Issuing a formal statement, the Embassy said, “On September 30, 2025, the Department of War released a list of standard contract announcements, which referred to an amendment to an existing Foreign Military Sales contract for sustainment and spares for several countries, including Pakistan.”
Emphasizing transparency, it added, “Contrary to false media reports, no part of this referenced contract modification is for deliveries of new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) to Pakistan. The sustainment does not include any upgrade to Pakistan’s current capabilities.”
The clarification comes after several media outlets reported that Islamabad might be receiving AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles — a move that could potentially enhance the Pakistani Air Force’s F-16 fleet and alter regional aerial dynamics. However, Washington firmly rejected these interpretations, calling them “misleading and exaggerated.”
