UP Govt Hikes Minimum Wages by 21% After Noida Protests; ₹20,000 Claim Dismissed as ‘Fake’

Following massive worker protests in Noida Phase 2, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a significant 21% increase in interim minimum wages across key districts. The decision was taken by a high-level committee constituted by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with revised wages effective from April 1.

Major Wage Hike in Noida & Ghaziabad

As per the District Magistrate’s office, workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad will see revised monthly wages:

  • Unskilled: ₹11,313 → ₹13,690
  • Semi-skilled: ₹12,445 → ₹15,059
  • Skilled: ₹13,940 → ₹16,868

Revised Wages Across Uttar Pradesh

Municipal Corporation Areas

  • Unskilled: ₹13,006
  • Semi-skilled: ₹14,306
  • Skilled: ₹16,025

Other Districts

  • Unskilled: ₹12,356
  • Semi-skilled: ₹13,591
  • Skilled: ₹15,224

Govt Blames Opposition, Assures Action

State Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta said, “Our government has taken the matter very seriously. A panel of senior government officials has been formed under the chairmanship of the Industrial Development Commissioner.”

He added, “Anarchic and thug elements of the Samajwadi Party and Congress have repeatedly conspired to disrupt the state’s peace and order under the guise of such protests.”

Further warning strict action, he said, “Any antisocial element challenging this environment will face such action that people for seven generations will shudder.”

Talks Ongoing With Workers

The minister said, “The committee formed by the government is holding talks with labour unions, industry groups, and stakeholders, and a suitable solution will be reached soon.”

The Noida administration dismissed viral claims about ₹20,000 minimum wages as misinformation, stating such reports are “fabricated and false news circulating on social media.”
