New Delhi: In a strong statement on Sunday, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale called for India to declare war against Pakistan if the neighboring country refuses to surrender Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). His remarks come amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters in Lonavala, Athawale condemned the attack that claimed the lives of 26 people and expressed concerns about the persistent threat posed by terrorism in the region. He emphasized that terrorist activities would continue as long as PoK remains under Pakistani control.

“As long as PoK exists, terrorist activities will continue. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if Pakistan does not hand over PoK, we must declare war against them,” Athawale said. He also argued that India needs to take control of PoK due to the frequent infiltration of terrorists through this region.

“Terrorists enter India through the same route again and again. That is why India must take control of PoK,” he added, underlining the urgency of addressing the situation.

Athawale further warned that Pakistan must vacate the region, otherwise, India will not hesitate to wage war. He also appealed to the opposition to stand united with the government on the matter.

“The opposition should stand with us. This is what Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar taught us— to stand with the nation when required,” said Athawale, emphasizing national unity in these critical times.
