Mumbai: In a shocking revelation, Team India cricketer Rinku Singh has allegedly received threats from the underworld. The Mumbai Crime Branch has uncovered that members of the notorious Dawood Ibrahim-led D-Company sent three ransom demands to Rinku Singh’s promotional team between February and April 2025, demanding a payment of ₹5 crore.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the extortion attempt — Mohammed Dilshad and Mohammed Naveed — who were apprehended in the West Indies and extradited to India on August 1. The duo had previously been involved in another high-profile case, where they demanded ₹10 crore from Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of the late former MLA Baba Siddiqui.

According to a TV9 report, one of the accused confessed during interrogation to personally calling Rinku Singh’s team to demand the ransom. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now probing whether the operation was directly coordinated by D-Company or through its local associates.

Rinku Singh, who rose from humble beginnings in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, has become one of Indian cricket’s most promising finishers. Despite his rapid rise, he now faces serious security concerns. Recently engaged to MP Priya Saroj, the young star’s growing fame appears to have drawn unwanted attention from criminal networks.
