Two Lashkar Terrorists Killed in Poonch as Indian Army Foils Infiltration Bid Under Operation Shivshakti

Poonch: In a swift counter-insurgency operation, two heavily armed terrorists were gunned down in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Wednesday morning. The encounter, part of a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, was carried out under the codename Operation Shivshakti following credible intelligence inputs about an infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control.

Officials confirmed that the terrorists were intercepted while attempting to cross into Indian territory, leading to a fierce gunfight. Troops from the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps responded promptly and eliminated the infiltrators before they could proceed further. “In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the Indian Army eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered,” the Army stated in an official update on X.

The coordinated operation was the result of precise and real-time intelligence from the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. According to sources, both slain militants were affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which continues to attempt cross-border infiltration to disrupt peace in the region.

The incident comes close on the heels of another major success for the security forces, who had neutralised three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack just two days ago. The recent developments highlight the heightened state of alertness and proactive approach of security forces in border areas, particularly in the wake of increased infiltration attempts.
