Villupuram: In a shocking turn of events, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) functionary Ayyappan, 51, was found dead by suicide at his home in Mayilam village, Villupuram district. Authorities say Ayyappan left a handwritten note accusing DMK Minister Senthil Balaji and local police of negligence during the Karur rally stampede, which killed 41 people during TVK chief Vijay’s campaign.

According to family members, Ayyappan had returned to his parents’ home three days prior. On Monday, his mother, Muniyammal, discovered him hanging alone in a room and immediately alerted neighbors and police.

The suicide note reportedly said: “Vijay fans did their best, but the tragedy happened due to Senthil Balaji. Police were also responsible. He should be arrested and punished.”

Ayyappan’s body was sent to Mundiyambakkam Government Hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile, Senji Police have launched a full investigation into the incident and the allegations raised in his note.

This tragic episode has reignited debate over political accountability and safety protocols during mass gatherings. Activists and opposition leaders are now calling for urgent measures to ensure proper crowd control and police oversight at rallies, following repeated incidents that have put lives at risk.
