New Delhi: During his transition phase into the White House in January earlier this year, US President Donald J Trump had vowed to end the Russia-Ukraine war, end the conflict in Gaza and bring peace. All that has vanished into thin air as Trump issued a dire warning to Iran backed militia group Hamas on March 5 to release all the hostages now without any delay, return all the dead bodies, “or else its OVER for you.” Barely a month ago, Trump on February 5, had issued a similar threat of obliteration to Iran if any harm were to come to him or any other leader by way of any assassination attempt, raising fears of a potential escalation of an armed conflict in West Asia.
On March 5, US President Donald Trump posted on X, “‘Shalom Hamas’ means Hello and Goodbye – You can choose. Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you. Only sick and twisted people keep bodies, and you are sick and twisted! I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job, not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don’t do as I say. I have just met with your former Hostages whose lives you have destroyed. This is your last warning! For the leadership, now is the time to leave Gaza, while you still have a chance. Also, to the People of Gaza: A beautiful Future awaits, but not if you hold Hostages. If you do, you are DEAD! Make a SMART decision. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY LATER!” – President Donald J. Trump.”
According to the New York Times post of February 5 on X, a month ago, Trump had remarked, “Trump claims he ordered ‘obliteration’ of Iran if he’s assassinated in a chilling warning: ‘I’ve left instructions’ trib.al/aXArkUo.”

If that was not enough on February 26, Trump had put out an AI generated video of his plans to redevelop Gaza into a prime real estate and tourist attraction.

It may be recalled that during his transition phase, the US President had issued a stern warning to Hamas asking it to release all the hostages and end the conflict with Israel before he took charge at the White House on January 20.
Given the flurry of statements that he (Trump) has issued, it all points towards a possible escalation of an armed conflict in West Asia. Already most of the Arab World has united following Trump’s redevelopment plans for Gaza. It is an open secret of the US stand on Iran’s nuclear program. Arming Israel to the teeth and issuing dire warnings both to Hamas and Iran is an indication enough that West Asia is on the boil again.
