New Delhi: Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim of having played a role in brokering peace between India and Pakistan has sparked political reactions in India, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge urging restraint and confidentiality over the sensitive issue.

While addressing supporters at a rally in the U.S., Trump stated, “It was my leadership and my relationship with both India and Pakistan that helped bring about this ceasefire. They were on the brink, and I got them to talk. Nobody else could have done it.”

The claim, however, did not go unnoticed in Indian political circles. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, responding to questions from reporters, kept his remarks brief but pointed, emphasizing the sensitive nature of the issue. “This is a confidential matter. We will discuss everything in the all-party meeting. It is not right to speak about it here,” Kharge said.
