President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States will deploy a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East as tensions with Iran remain high over its nuclear programme. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded firmly, stating, “We will not yield to excessive demands,” while maintaining that Iran remains engaged “with full determination in dialogue aimed at peace and stability in the region.” He added that longstanding mistrust between Tehran and Western powers continues to hinder meaningful progress in negotiations.
The deployment of a second carrier strike group significantly raises the stakes in an already fragile situation. While Washington insists the move is a precautionary step to ensure deterrence, analysts warn that the concentration of military assets in the region could increase the risk of miscalculation if diplomatic channels collapse.
