The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has made a grim discovery, as they successfully recovered eight bodies from the site of a devastating blast that occurred at the Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd factory in Mahad, Raigad district. The incident, which took place on Friday, has left a community in shock and mourning.
The explosion, which occurred at the Mahad MIDC complex, situated approximately 170 km from Mumbai, resulted in seven individuals sustaining serious injuries, while seven others remain unaccounted for. A relentless search operation is underway to locate the missing persons.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the blast was triggered by a gas leak from the factory. The incident has cast a shadow over the factory, which had recently made a strong debut on the stock market. Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd’s shares had surged, listing at a 9.8 per cent premium to the IPO price of Rs 346 on November 1. The shares opened at Rs 380 each on the NSE and Rs 359 each on BSE.
In response to the tragic incident, the Maharashtra state government has ordered an inquiry to understand the causes and circumstances surrounding the blast.
