Tragedy in Rajasthan: 8 Drown in Banas River, Sachin Pilot Calls for Safety Measures

Tonk: A tragic incident unfolded on the banks of the Banas River in Rajasthan’s Tonk district, where eight people lost their lives and three others were injured after drowning during a picnic trip on Tuesday. According to police officials, the group had come from Jaipur for a day outing when the accident occurred.

Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan confirmed the casualties, saying, “Eight people have died, and three are injured due to drowning in the Banas river in Tonk district.” Rescue operations were swiftly carried out by local authorities.

Reacting to the heartbreaking incident, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot visited the site and interacted with the victims’ families. He expressed deep sorrow and emphasized the need for better safety protocols in such areas. “This is a very sad incident. These people had come here from Jaipur for a picnic… While trying to save each other, they slipped and 8 people died,” Pilot said. He added, “The administration will provide financial help to their families. To prevent such incidents, a survey should be conducted by sending a technical team and checkpoints should be made.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also took to social media, expressing his condolences. “The news of the deaths due to drowning in the Banas river located in Tonk district is extremely sad and painful. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the district administration officials were instructed to conduct rescue and relief operations immediately,” he tweeted.
