Traffic snarls continued to plague commuters at the Delhi-Noida border near Mahamaya Flyover on Tuesday morning, following Monday’s large-scale farmers’ protest that disrupted vehicular movement. Long queues of vehicles moved at a crawl, with both sides of the road experiencing significant delays.

The protest, led by the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), saw farmers from 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Aligarh and Agra, gather at the Mahamaya Flyover on the Delhi-Noida link road. The march began around 11:30 AM on Monday, with the farmers demanding better land allocation and increased compensation for lands acquired by the government, among other issues.

Hundreds of farmers, carrying banners and flags representing various farmer organizations, attempted to march toward the Parliament complex. However, their progress was halted at the state border by security forces. Despite barricades set up by Noida Police, the sheer volume of protesters created congestion, forcing authorities to divert traffic to ease the situation.

To manage the situation, police increased security at the border, deploying additional personnel and rerouting vehicles. The disruptions caused significant delays for commuters traveling between Delhi and Noida, with several reporting being stuck in traffic for hours.

The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad leadership has vowed to continue pressing for their demands, stating that they will not back down until tangible assurances are given by the authorities. Monday’s protest serves as a reminder of the farmers’ ongoing struggle for fair treatment and compensation, a matter that has seen recurring demonstrations across the country. With tensions high and no immediate resolution in sight, commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid further disruptions.
