New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday filed police complaints against several social media accounts for allegedly circulating and amplifying fabricated chat messages that are being falsely linked to her and political strategist Prashant Kishor.
The controversy erupted after screenshots of alleged private chats began circulating widely on X. These images claim to show conversations from an iCloud account bearing the address “prashantkishor@icloud.com.” However, the identity of the other person shown in the screenshots has not been confirmed, and the source of the material remains unknown.

Despite the lack of verification, several social media users have attributed the chats to Mahua Moitra and Prashant Kishor, triggering widespread speculation and online commentary. Moitra has strongly denied the claims and termed the content as completely fake.
Taking to X, the TMC leader warned that legal action has already been initiated against those involved in spreading what she described as “fabricated sexual content.” She said FIRs have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and made it clear that anyone reposting or commenting on the alleged chats would also face criminal consequences.

In another post, Moitra shared screenshots of some of the social media handles against which complaints have been filed, reiterating that police action would follow against every account involved in spreading the material. When asked to comment further on the issue, she responded that the matter is now with the police and that she does not intend to offer any remarks beyond the legal process.
Meanwhile, the authenticity of the alleged chats has not been established by any credible source. Even users who sought clarification from Grok, an AI chatbot developed by xAI, were told that the circulating screenshots are unverified and may be satire or fabricated content, with no confirmation of their origin or legitimacy.

As the controversy continues to play out online, the episode has once again drawn attention to growing concerns over misinformation, privacy violations, and the rapid spread of unverified content on social media platforms.
