Bhiwandi: Three kids below 16 years of age and their father who were trapped under the debris at least 9 hours after the ground plus three storied Jilani apartment building collapsed in the wee hours on Monday. A total of six members of the family including four minors were stuck under debris around 9 hours.
Three kids have been identified as Ayan Ibrahim Shaikh (7), his sister Nasira Ibrahim Shaikh (12) and Sayma Ibrahim (16) have been rescued alive after 9 hours after being trapped under the debris. Ibrahim Shaikh who is an electrician in Bhiwandi power-loom unit of Bhiwandi resides with wife and two sons and three daughters on the first floor of Jilani apartment.
According to Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNMC) official, the incident took place at Patel compound near Dhamankar Naka area of Bhiwandi on 3.45 am on Monday when all the inhabitants were on sleeping.
Nasira Ibrahim Shaikh (12), a survivor while speaking to thenews21, “I along with my youngster brother Ayan, father, mother, elder sister Sayma (16) were sleeping at the hall while the elder brother Aman was at the bedroom. I did know what happened as I slept in depth. I heard yelling sound from outside the debris. I along with Ayan were stuck under the debris and very darkness and felt feared”.

The team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF) rescued the siblings by 12.30 pm on Monday. Following which, Ibrahim Shaikh and Sayma were pulled out under the rubbles (debris) at around 1.30 pm. Four were immediately rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGM) in Bhiwandi where the treatment is underway.
Ibrahim suffered a right eye injury and bleeding while Sayma received minor injuries in her body and she was under trauma. -By Narendra Gupta
