Indian Railways has achieved a historic milestone by transporting over 3 crore passengers in a single day on November 4, 2024. This includes 120.72 lakh non-suburban passengers and 180 lakh suburban passengers, marking the highest single-day passenger count of the year. Between October 1 and November 5, around 6.85 crore passengers traveled to Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand through scheduled trains, surpassing the combined populations of Australia and New Zealand.
In response to the festive rush, Indian Railways operated 4,521 special trains, carrying 65 lakh passengers. Additionally, to accommodate the return rush, 164 special trains are scheduled for November 8, with further trains planned over the next few days to ensure smooth travel for millions of passengers.
This achievement highlights Indian Railways’ commitment to meeting peak travel demands during the festive season, ensuring comfort and accessibility for all.
