Mumbai/New Delhi: In a major cultural tourism initiative, the Government of India has announced the launch of a specially curated 10-day heritage train tour titled “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & the Glorious Maratha Tour.” The announcement was welcomed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for launching the unique initiative under Indian Railways’ Bharat Gaurav Train scheme.

Scheduled to commence on July 16, 2025, the train journey will begin from Delhi and travel across iconic Maratha heritage, cultural, and pilgrimage destinations in Pune, Raigad, Shirdi, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad).

“This is not just a journey, but a moving tribute to the valour, legacy, and cultural richness of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the glorious Maratha Empire,” said CM Fadnavis in a social media post. “It also offers a spiritual experience with visits to Maharashtra’s revered pilgrimage sites,” he added.

The Bharat Gaurav Train initiative aims to promote India’s heritage tourism by offering thematic tours across the country. With this latest addition focusing on Maratha history and spirituality, the government seeks to connect citizens and tourists alike with Maharashtra’s historic pride and cultural depth.

The tour is expected to attract participants from across the country and beyond, offering them an immersive experience into the life and times of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj — a legendary warrior-king whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

Further details regarding ticketing, itinerary, and bookings will be released by Indian Railways in the coming weeks.
