Mumbai: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government which had tried hard to tarnish the Jalayukta Shivar Yojana has now fallen flat on its face, remarked BJP leader MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.
Speaking to newspersons here, he further said that a committee was appointed to inquire into the Jalayukta Shivar Yojana. At that time, the Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led MVA government had levelled serious charges that the scheme lacked transparency, was inefficient and did not improve the irrigation capacity remarkably.
So now, at the end of the inquiry, what are the findings of your water conservation department? asked Shelar in a sarcastic tone.
It was due to the Jalayukta Shivar Yojana that allocation was made for assured irrigation, farmers earned increased returns from cash crops, increased the area for cultivation was available and increased groundwater levels. Also, the technology that was used and the photo geo-mapping that was done was transparent which was carried out with active participation from the villagers.
Now if the water conservation department is stating these facts at the end of their inquiry, then it is clear that it was only out of sheer ego and political hatred the Jalayukta Shivar scheme was tarnished.
Adv. Ashish Shelar slammed the alliance government for tarnishing the scheme thus insulting the farmers of Maharashtra and making them suffer heavy losses. By doing so the government has fallen flat on its face, stated MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.
