In the backdrop of coronavirus pandemic and fear of massive gathering like Marine Drive, Girgaum Chowpaty, Pune Collector issued order to ban entry to Lonavala, Tamhini Ghat, Bhushi and Mulshi Ghats along with other monsoon season places in and around Pune.
Mumbai: As a part of Unlock1.0, the Maharashtra government has given relaxation since May 31. Several outdoor activities like cycling, jogging and running are allowed in this relaxation. However after the image of massive gathering at Marine Drive created storm on social media on June 6. The Pune district Collector decided to ban people pouring from Mumbai and other places to famous monsoon spots.
Naval Kishor Ram Pune district Collector and Chairman of the District Management Authority issued the order on June 7, under the Disaster Management Act so that there is no law and order issue.
Naval Kishor Ram, the Pune city Collector issued an order to ban entry to dams in rainy season for picnics frequented by people from Mumbai, Pune and other places. Due to monsoon season thousands of people visit to Lonavala, Tamhini Ghat, Bhushi and Mulshi dams for weekend picnics every year. The weekends in monsoon season generally witnesses traffic jams for hours as people from Mumbai queue up to enjoy trains in Pune and Lonavala.
The entry of people movement has been restricted to Bhushi dam and Lonavala area in Maval taluka, Khadakwasla dam in Haveli Taluka, Malshej Ghat in Junnar taluka, Bhatghar dam, fort area in Bhor taluka, Panshet dam and other areas in Velhe taluka, Bhimashankar in Ambegaon taluka. These places see lot of tourist arrivals from Mumbai and other places on weekends thus the entry is ban to avoid massive gathering and flouting norms of social distancing in pandemic crisis of coronavirus.Â
