Former Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, faces scrutiny over alleged undisclosed donations collected during his tenure, as revealed by a recent reply to RTI activist Anil Galgali. The Maharashtra Governor’s family management office clarified that they do not possess information regarding donations collected by Koshyari for organizations associated with him while serving as Governor.

RTI activist Anil Galgali had filed a request seeking details of donations amassed by Koshyari during his governorship for Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Pithorgarh, Vivekananda Vidya Mandir Inter College, Pithorgarh, and Saraswati Vihar For Educational Institution Higher Secondary, Nainital.

The office superintendent, in response, stated that the requested information is not relevant to their office and advised contacting the concerned organization. Anil Galgali, dissatisfied with the response, filed a First Appeal against the rejection by the Raj Bhavan.

Galgali emphasized the necessity of informing the state government and the Governor’s family management office about the donations collected during Koshyari’s tenure. He suggested that if such information is absent, the Governor’s family manager should formally request it to ensure proper record-keeping at the Raj Bhavan.

Anil Galgali expressed concerns over the lack of awareness at the Raj Bhavan regarding donations amassed during Koshyari’s governorship. He called for an investigation by the state government into the alleged concealment of donation-related information. Galgali has addressed letters to the present Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, urging action on the matter.

The revelation raises questions about transparency and accountability in governance, prompting calls for further investigation and accountability measures to ensure public trust in the functioning of governmental institutions.
