Srinagar: Some individuals leave an indelible mark on society, not through grand speeches or towering monuments, but through their selfless service, unparalleled dedication, and the transformative impact they have on countless lives. The person whose journey I chronicle here is one such luminary, an educator, mentor, leader, example of gentleness, and a beacon of positivity Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Principal of DIET Kupwara.
His career spanning decades has shaped the futures of thousands of students, many of whom now serve as doctors, engineers, academicians, and professionals across the world. His humility, kindness, and ability to solve problems with a progressive approach have made him an icon of inspiration.
He began his career as a teacher at GMS M.H. Pora in July 1989, and embarked on a journey that would impact thousands of lives. His tenure there, though brief, laid the foundation of his lifelong commitment and attachment to education. His approach for teaching the learning process has made him an outstanding and inspirational teacher.
In May 1991, he was transferred to BHS Langate, continuing his teaching career. His ability to connect with students, simplify complex subjects, and inspire young minds quickly set him apart.
By December 1991, his expertise earned him a position as a lecturer at BHSS Budgam, during those days remaining out of home was indeed a challenging task, but his thirst for teaching made him a different one, despite all odds he left the home and joined as a lecturer in district Budgam marking his foray into higher secondary education.
Over the next few years, he continued his service as a lecturer at BHSS Drugmulla (1993-1997) and BHSS Handwara (1997-2005), shaping young minds with his wisdom and guidance. In Handwara he was having a great circle, colleagues and friends like Irshad Ahmad Shah Sb Principal presently working in SCERT KD, Farooq Ahmad Malik ex-deputy CEO Kupwara headquarter Handwara, Mohammad Iqbal Shah present DEPO Kupwara, Mohammad Shafiq Magrey ex-principal BHSS Zachaldara, Abdul Rashid Malik principal degree college Kupwara, Abdul Rehman Dar ex-senior lecturer in Zoology.
This group of intellectuals, academicians, educationists have brought great change in the educational landscape of Handwara. They have guided, counselled almost thousands of students presently working in many reputed institutes of India and abroad.
He was promoted to the post of senior lecturer in April 2005 at BHSS Zachaldara. This period marked his growing influence in academic circles, as he continued to mentor students with his knowledge and dedication. From July 2006 to April 2010, he served as the senior lecturer at BHSS Handwara.
This was a significant phase in his career as he guided many students who would later establish themselves as professionals in various fields. Later, in April 2010, he was transferred to BHSS Langate as a senior lecturer, further expanding his sphere of influence. His presence was not just limited to classrooms, he was known for his approachability, always willing to listen and guide students beyond academics.
With his vast experience and deep understanding of academic administration, he was promoted as Principal of BHSS Behnipora, zone Rajwar in October 2011. His tenure saw remarkable progress in the institution, with improvements in academic standards and student engagement. In May 2013, he assumed the role of Principal at BHSS Qalamabad, continuing his administrative skills with dedication until February 2019.
His ability to foster an environment of learning and discipline earned him great respect among students and staff alike. He was also given the DDO powers of zone Mawer where he worked tirelessly for the benefit of students and teaching faculty.
He brought some major reforms in the zone with regard to educational excellence. From March 2019 to July 2021, he served as Principal BHSS M.H. Pora, reinforcing his legacy of excellence. Under his guidance, students excelled academically, and the institution flourished.
Recognizing his immense contributions, he joined as the deputy CEO Kupwara HQ Handwara in August 2021. His administrative skills and deep understanding of the education sector enabled him to bring effective reforms and improvements in the educational landscape of district Kupwara.
Since January 2025, he has been serving as Principal DIET Kupwara, a prestigious position that reflects his lifelong commitment to educational excellence. Here, he continues to shape policies, mentor educators, Trainings, and ensure quality education for future generations.
Beyond his professional achievements, he is known for his gentleness, kindness, and down-to-earth nature. His ability to walk and talk with people, making everyone feel valued and heard, sets him apart. He is a problem solver, always looking for constructive solutions. His positive and progressive approach ensures that negativity never finds a place in his thoughts.
His legacy of greatness continues to inspire lakhs of students across generations. Apart from his academic and administrative excellence, he was also an exceptional cricketer in his time. His leadership on the field mirrored his leadership in life – strategic, disciplined, and always striving for excellence.
As the principal of DIET Kupwara, he is a guiding force for students and educators alike. His journey is an example of the power of dedication, knowledge, and leadership in shaping a better society. His story will continue to inspire generations, proving that true greatness lies in uplifting others and leaving behind a legacy of excellence. .
