New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a petition seeking the registration of an FIR against former Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma over the alleged discovery of illicit cash at his official residence. The cash was reportedly recovered in sacks following a fire incident at his home.

A bench comprising Justices Abhay Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan ruled that the matter should first be addressed through an internal investigation. “If the internal probe finds him guilty, the Chief Justice of India will have the option to order an FIR or recommend his removal to the government,” the bench stated.
