Mumbai: In a sharp attack on the Centre over the ongoing wave of IndiGo flight cancellations, NCP–Sharadchandra Pawar MP Supriya Sule on Sunday demanded an immediate and transparent response from the Union government. She said the aviation chaos unfolding for the past two days had left thousands of passengers stranded, yet the Government of India had “not issued a single official statement.”
Speaking to reporters, Sule said, “We condemn what happened with IndiGo. The Government of India must make an official statement in Parliament, and there must be a full inquiry into this episode. The situation has been deteriorating for two days, and still, the government has remained silent. I hope that by Monday, the government will answer the country and the Parliament regarding IndiGo.”
Calling the disruption a result of the lack of competition in India’s aviation sector, Sule criticised the dominance of a single major airline. She stated, “Had there been four or five airlines operating strongly, this situation would not have occurred. Competition is good — customer is king. One airline’s monopoly is not good for any economy, country, or business.”
