New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted six weeks of interim bail to Mahesh Raut, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon case, citing medical grounds.

Raut, who has been in judicial custody since June 2018, will be released temporarily to address his health concerns. The apex court’s decision comes after Raut’s legal team highlighted his deteriorating medical condition and requested relief from prolonged incarceration.

The Bhima Koregaon case, which has drawn national attention, involves several activists accused of inciting violence during the 2018 Dalit-related clashes in Maharashtra.
