Explosive allegations have emerged within the Shiv Sena party as MLA Sada Sarvankar, aligned with the Eknath Shinde faction, claimed that former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut had allegedly instigated him to attack the residence of former Chief Minister Manohar Joshi in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park area.
In a shocking revelation, Sarvankar narrated the incident, alleging that Uddhav Thackeray had summoned him to his residence and informed him that he would not be receiving a ticket for the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly elections due to Manohar Joshi’s opposition to his candidature. Thackeray purportedly instructed Sarvankar to visit Joshi’s house and launch an attack.
Following Thackeray’s directives, Sarvankar set out for Joshi’s residence accompanied by 15-20 party workers. During his journey, he claimed to have received a phone call from Sanjay Raut, who allegedly inquired about his plans. According to Sarvankar, Raut was already aware of the attack plan and directed him to acquire petrol from a nearby fuel station to set Joshi’s residence ablaze.
The following day, a heated encounter reportedly took place at Matoshree, Uddhav Thackeray’s residence, where Sarvankar alleges that Thackeray expressed his displeasure over media coverage of the attack on Manohar Joshi’s house and subsequently refused to grant him a party ticket for the elections. Sarvankar stated that Sanjay Raut was also present during this incident.
Significantly, Sarvankar claimed that despite the attack, Manohar Joshi did not file a police complaint. He referred to Joshi as his ‘guru’ (teacher) and emphasized his long association with him. Sarvankar contended that he had been incited to carry out the attack by Uddhav Thackeray and Sanjay Raut, stating that he regretted targeting his mentor’s residence.
These allegations, if substantiated, could have far-reaching implications within the Shiv Sena party and raise questions about the leadership’s involvement in controversial actions. The claims have already generated significant attention and speculation in Maharashtra’s political landscape, with many eagerly awaiting further developments and responses from the individuals accused.
