The Chief Minister said a large national event will be organised at Agra Fort in 2030 to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj. He expressed confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the programme.

Referring to upcoming national elections, Fadnavis said he believed Modi would continue as Prime Minister and take part in the historic celebration at the fort.

Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh to Work Together

Fadnavis thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the state government’s decision to take over the land connected to Shivaji Maharaj’s imprisonment.

He said both Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh would jointly develop the memorial and added that people could expect visible progress by the next Shivaji Jayanti celebration at Agra Fort.

School Books to Highlight Maratha History

The Maharashtra Chief Minister also spoke about changes in school education. He said earlier textbooks focused heavily on Mughal history, while the contribution of the Marathas received limited attention.

According to him, new textbooks will give greater importance to the life, leadership, and legacy of Shivaji Maharaj and the Maratha empire.

Senior Leaders Attend the Ceremony

Several senior leaders and dignitaries attended the event, including Union Minister C. R. Patil, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, and Maharashtra Culture Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.

Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay was also present. The programme began late at night as guests arrived from Mumbai.

Cultural Events Held Inside the Fort

A cultural programme was organised inside the Jahangir Mahal complex of Agra Fort. The evening included traditional performances and a stage play depicting key moments from Shivaji Maharaj’s life. Celebrations continued well into the night.
