In a bid to salvage the fraying ties between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), efforts are underway to persuade the latter to reconsider its decision to pull out of the alliance. The rift emerged when VBA leader Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Babasaheb Ambedkar, unilaterally announced the withdrawal of his party from the alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT), citing dissatisfaction over seat allocation.

Expressing disappointment over Ambedkar’s decision, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut emphasized the willingness of his party to accommodate VBA’s demands. “We were prepared to offer four to five seats to the VBA. Discussions remain open,” Raut stated, urging Ambedkar to refrain from prematurely terminating the alliance.

Acknowledging the potential impact of Ambedkar’s departure on electoral outcomes, Raut underscored the significance of maintaining unity within the alliance. Despite Ambedkar’s assertion of contesting independently and extending support to Congress candidates in certain constituencies, the Shiv Sena (UBT) remains committed to preserving the alliance.

The impending release of the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s candidate list, scheduled for Tuesday, adds urgency to the resolution of outstanding disputes, particularly regarding contentious seats like Sangli. However, indications suggest that the party may proceed with the announcement without waiting for complete resolution.
