New Delhi: In a major political shake-up just days before the Delhi Assembly elections, seven outgoing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs have resigned from the party, alleging corruption and internal issues.
According to media reports, the legislators were upset over being denied tickets for the February 5 elections and were in talks with other political parties. Many of them took to social media to share their resignation letters and criticized the AAP leadership.
Madan Lal, the outgoing MLA from Kasturba Nagar, confirmed the resignations on Friday, stating, “I, along with six other MLAs, have resigned from AAP’s primary membership.” He added that they had formally submitted their resignation letters to Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.
The MLAs who have quit AAP include:
- Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar)
- Bhavna Gaud (Palam)
- Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli)
- Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri)
- Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar)
Their exit has intensified the political drama ahead of the high-stakes elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly, scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set for February 8.
The development has sparked speculations about their next political move, with reports suggesting they may join rival parties in the coming days. The AAP leadership has yet to respond to the resignations.
