Patna: Amid rising political tensions in Bihar, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Shakeel Khan launched a scathing attack on the BJP-JDU government, alleging that law and order have completely collapsed in the state. In a strong statement, Khan claimed that Bihar is no longer safe for anyone, especially Dalits, and accused the BJP of fostering an environment of oppression wherever it governs.
“Bihar’s governance and administration have collapsed completely. Wherever BJP is in power, incidents of atrocities against Dalits continue to rise. Today, no one is safe in Bihar,” said Shakeel Khan in a post on social media.
The Congress leader’s remarks come in response to an alleged attack on a Dalit Member of Parliament (MP) in Bihar. Without naming the victim, Khan suggested that if leaders from marginalized communities were not safe, the condition of the common people in Bihar must be even worse.
“When BJP-JDU leaders can attack a Dalit MP in Bihar, you can imagine the kind of atmosphere in the state,” he added.
His statement has intensified the ongoing political war of words between the opposition and the ruling BJP-JDU alliance in Bihar.
Responding to Khan’s accusations, the BJP dismissed them as political opportunism and an attempt to defame the government. BJP leaders argued that law and order remain under control and accused the Congress of playing the Dalit card to mislead the public ahead of elections.
“The Congress is trying to create fear among the people. The BJP has always worked for the upliftment of Dalits, and such baseless accusations will not be tolerated,” said a BJP spokesperson.
The alleged attack on a Dalit MP, combined with Congress’ aggressive stance, has brought Bihar’s governance under fresh scrutiny. With the opposition rallying against the BJP-JDU coalition, the issue of law and order and Dalit rights could become a major election issue in the state.
