Commuters traversing Mumbai’s local train network are advised to plan ahead for potential inconvenience on Sunday, January 7, owing to a scheduled mega block set to affect Central, Harbour, and Transharbour lines. The mega block is slated to commence around 11 am and persist until approximately 4:15 pm. However, the Western and Uran lines will remain unaffected by this maintenance work.

Central Railway will execute a mega block specifically impacting the Matunga-Mulund Up and Down fast lines from 11:05 am to 3:55 pm. Consequently, Down fast local train services departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus between 10:25 am and 3:35 pm will be rerouted onto the Down slow line between Matunga and Mulund, making scheduled stops at intervening stations.

Commuters traveling on fast local trains beyond Thane station should anticipate a delay of approximately 15 minutes as these services will be redirected onto the fast line.

Conversely, Up fast local train services leaving Thane station from 10:50 am to 3:46 pm will be diverted onto the Up slow line between Mulund and Matunga, adhering to their regular station halts.

Additionally, Central Railway will conduct a mega block on the Vashi Up and Down Harbour Lines spanning 11 am to 4:05 pm. As a result, local train services connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Panvel/Belapur/Vashi will be suspended between 10:16 am and 3:47 pm. Notably, only Thane-Vashi services will remain operational on the Transharbour line from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm during this period.

Mega blocks are routine for the Railways, serving as crucial windows for maintenance and repair works necessary to ensure the continued functionality and safety of the transportation infrastructure. While these interruptions may cause temporary inconvenience, they are vital for the long-term reliability and safety of the local train network. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes or modes of transportation to mitigate the impact of these scheduled disruptions.
