New Delhi: Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has called for an extensive investigation into the alleged liquor scam linked to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, raising concerns over financial losses and political involvement in the case.

Dikshit alleged that the Kejriwal-led government’s excise policy had resulted in a massive revenue loss of ₹2,000 crore, which he claimed could have been used for public welfare. “AAP’s claims of increasing revenue have been exposed. The state exchequer has suffered a loss of ₹2,000 crore—money that should have benefited the common people,” he stated.

The controversy intensified after Chief Minister Rekha Gupta tabled the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the liquor policy in the Delhi Assembly. Ahead of the session, CM Gupta also chaired a meeting with BJP MLAs to discuss the findings and ensure smooth proceedings in the House.

Dikshit further demanded a deeper probe into the liquor scam, alleging that both AAP and BJP had financial links with the companies that were awarded contracts. “The companies that secured contracts made donations to both AAP and BJP. This should be thoroughly investigated,” he asserted.

He also criticized the absence of a public debate on the CAG report in the Assembly, arguing that such a critical issue should be openly discussed. “Despite the report being tabled, there was no discussion in the House. The people of Delhi deserve transparency on this matter,” he remarked.

Additionally, Dikshit raised concerns over the role of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and BJP leaders in shaping and influencing the liquor policy, demanding clarity on their involvement.
