Robert Vadra Alleges ED Acting On Government Instructions After Court Relief
New Delhi: Businessman Robert Vadra on Friday said he has “nothing to hide” after being granted bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in connection with the Shikohpur land deal money laundering case.
Speaking to reporters after securing relief from the court, Vadra expressed confidence in India’s judicial system while also criticising the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleging that the agency was functioning under government influence.
“I believe in the judicial system of this country. I know that ED is being managed by the Government and the ED will keep on going on the instructions of the Government,” Vadra said.
‘I Am Always Going To Be Here’
Vadra stated that he would continue cooperating with investigators and complete all required legal formalities related to the case.
“I am here, I have nothing to hide. So, I am always going to be here and answer all the questions. Whatever the formalities are, I will complete them,” he added.
The businessman also linked the investigations against him to the political prominence of his family, claiming he was prepared to face pressure because of his association with national politics.
“If we are winning elections, if we are doing good and people still want my family, by default I am going to have to deal with this,” he said.
Vadra Says He Is ‘Fearless’
Maintaining that he was not intimidated by the ongoing investigations, Vadra said he was capable of dealing with the legal battle.
“I have the capability to face this. I am fearless and I have nothing to hide,” he remarked.
The Shikohpur land deal case has remained under investigation for alleged financial irregularities and suspected money laundering linked to land transactions in Haryana.
The Enforcement Directorate has been probing the matter for several years, while Vadra has consistently denied wrongdoing.
Political Reactions Expected
The latest development is likely to trigger political reactions as the case has frequently been at the centre of political debate between the ruling BJP and the Congress party.
Officials have not yet issued further details regarding the next stage of proceedings in the case.
