New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a high-level security review meeting on Tuesday morning following the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed 11 lives and left several others injured.

The meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Home Minister’s residence, will include Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, and NIA Director General Sadanand Vasant Date. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat will join the discussion virtually, sources confirmed.

Home Minister’s Statement and Investigation Focus

After visiting the injured at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital late Monday night, Amit Shah told reporters, “Tomorrow morning, we will have a detailed analysis of the blast at the Home Ministry with senior officers.” He added that top investigative agencies are probing the explosion “with full intensity” to uncover its origin and intent.

The blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car outside the Red Fort on Monday evening. According to Delhi Police sources, the car is believed to have a connection to Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, and was allegedly purchased by a resident from there. Investigators suspect that the vehicle may have been used deliberately to carry out a terror strike.

Trail of the Suspect and CCTV Footage

Preliminary investigation has revealed crucial CCTV footage showing the suspect’s car entering and leaving the parking area near the Red Fort shortly before the explosion. Sources said the suspect appeared to be alone in the vehicle.

Investigators are currently mapping the car’s route towards Daryaganj and examining over 100 CCTV clips, including those from toll plazas and nearby highways, to piece together the vehicle’s complete movement before the blast.

Night-Long Raids and Arrests

Following the explosion, Delhi Police carried out extensive search operations through Monday night in Paharganj, Daryaganj, and nearby localities. Officials scrutinized hotel registers and surveillance footage, detaining four individuals for questioning.

A senior police officer confirmed, “The blast occurred in a moving Hyundai i20 car in which three people were sitting. We are exploring all angles, including the possibility of a suicide bomber. Interestingly, there were no pellets or puncture marks on the bodies of the injured, which is atypical in such blasts.”

FIR Registered Under Anti-Terror Laws

An FIR has been lodged at Kotwali Police Station under sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), along with provisions of the Explosives Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These sections pertain to acts of terrorism and conspiracy to commit a terror offence.

Meanwhile, Delhi remains on high alert, with intensified security checks at airports, railway stations, bus terminals, and public gathering zones. Raids are continuing across multiple locations in the National Capital Region as agencies work to trace the network behind the attack.
