New Delhi: The face of terrorism has changed — and so has India. From white-collar jihadists hiding behind laptops to cross-border operatives plotting to strike at the nation’s pride, a silent war has been raging beneath the surface. But unlike the years when the Congress government responded with hesitation, the Modi era has rewritten the rules of national security — replacing appeasement with action, and fear with resolve.

1. The Red Fort Plot – A Symbolic Strike That Failed

The Red Fort — a living emblem of India’s sovereignty — was again in the crosshairs. The explosives discovered in Faridabad were not random finds but part of a chilling plan to attack India’s spirit during peak crowd hours. Nearly 2,900 kilograms of explosives and sophisticated arms were recovered from a doctor’s residence, pointing to a well-funded, well-trained terror network.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, however, the conspiracy was dismantled before it could breathe. The same plot, under Congress rule, might have reached Delhi’s heart — as it once did.

2. Terror’s New Disguise: From Street Criminals to White Coats

This time, terror didn’t arrive wearing rags or turbans. It came dressed in white coats, carried laptops instead of rifles, and spoke the language of science and engineering. These were not poor recruits; they were educated radicals weaponising knowledge for jihad.

BJP’s intelligence network pre-empted what Congress’s complacency would have overlooked. The Gujarat Ricin plot was another reminder — radicals using laboratories as launchpads. Modi’s ATS neutralised the threat before any blood was shed. Under UPA, such conspiracies festered until they claimed lives.

3. The Myth of Poverty and the Truth of Ideology

Congress’s long-standing claim that “terror is born out of poverty” collapses before evidence. Faridabad, Gujarat, and Murshidabad prove otherwise — these were not men of hunger, but men of hate. Jihad today is not an economic cry; it’s an ideological crusade.

Under Modi, the cycle of excuses has ended. Accountability has replaced apology.

4. From Appeasement to Action

Over 150 crude bombs recovered near the Bangladesh border in Murshidabad expose the cost of appeasement. Congress’s “vote-bank politics” turned border security into political bargaining. BJP’s approach has been the opposite — defend borders first, debate later.

Modi’s India has no such confusion. There are no “good” terrorists, no “sympathetic” extremists. The line between right and wrong is drawn in the colour of the Tricolour.

Today’s terror no longer hides in caves; it hides behind encrypted chats and dark-web networks. Only a technologically advanced, reform-oriented government can fight this battle. Modi’s administration has built the architecture — integrating intelligence, technology, and political will.

Under Congress, officers operated in fear. Under Modi, they operate with the nation at their back. That is the difference between weak politics and strong governance.

When Congress leaders coined the phrase “Hindu terror,” they sought to balance the scales of guilt — but ended up demonising patriotism itself. The BJP restored the dignity of nationalism, asserting that loving one’s country is not extremism, it’s duty.
