Long-Time Household Associate Arrested
Mumbai Police have arrested a woman accused of stealing jewellery and luxury watches worth nearly ₹25 lakh from a residence connected to Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon and her family.
Investigators said the accused had been associated with the family for several years and was entrusted with caring for the actor’s elderly mother. Her regular access to the household allegedly enabled her to move freely within different areas of the residence.
Missing Valuables Trigger Police Complaint
The matter surfaced after family members reportedly discovered that valuables stored in a locker had disappeared. The complaint was lodged by Rajiv Tandon, who informed police that several pieces of jewellery and expensive watches were missing.
According to investigators, the stolen items allegedly included gold ornaments, diamond jewellery, rings, necklaces, earrings and other valuables. Two premium watches belonging to Rajiv Tandon were also reported missing.
Theft Discovered During Festival Preparations
Police sources said the suspected theft came to light when family members opened the locker while making preparations for a festival celebration. During the inspection, they allegedly noticed signs that the locker had been tampered with and later realized that multiple valuables were gone.
The total value of the missing property has been estimated at approximately ₹25 lakh.
Probe Leads to Arrest
Officials stated that the woman initially denied any involvement when questioned. However, after further investigation and examination of evidence, police took her into custody.
During the probe, investigators reportedly recovered some of the missing watches. Efforts are still underway to trace the remaining jewellery and determine its whereabouts.
Police Examining Wider Angle
Authorities are also investigating whether additional individuals may have played any role in the alleged theft or disposal of the valuables.
Police said the investigation remains active, with teams working to recover the remaining items and establish the complete sequence of events surrounding the case.
The accused remains under investigation as officials continue gathering evidence related to the alleged theft.
