Rajkummar Rao Recalls Firing Cook For Disrespecting Wife Patralekhaa: ‘Aap Bag Pack Kijiye Aur Chale Jaiye’

Mumbai: Actor Rajkummar Rao, known for his powerful performances on-screen, recently revealed a moment of real-life integrity and respect off-screen that earned him praise from fans and peers alike.

During an episode of RelationShit Advice hosted by stand-up comedian Raunaq Rajani, Rajkummar opened up about a personal incident involving a former cook, highlighting the importance of respect in relationships—especially towards one’s partner.

The conversation began with Rajani sharing how his current cook, although an excellent chef, exhibits deeply chauvinistic behaviour towards his wife, Henna Mirchandani. Rajani admitted he had turned a blind eye to the issue due to the cook’s culinary skills. Reacting to this, Rajkummar shared his own experience and took a firm stand.

“I’ll tell you an example from our house, and guys, see the difference,” Rajkummar began. “We had a cook, he must’ve been around 48. A great cook! For the first time in my life, I was getting vegetarian Mexican food. Otherwise, it would just be some hari sabzi and rice.”

He continued, “After 2 days, Patraa (Patralekhaa) told me, ‘This guy does not talk to me nicely. I think there’s some issue.’ And I could figure out. On the third day, when Patra asked him something, he made a face. But with me, he’d talk with a lot of respect.”

His response was swift and uncompromising. “You know what I did? I called him and said, ‘Aap apna bag pack kijiye aur chale jaiye’.” The audience responded with a round of applause, applauding the actor’s respect for his wife and zero tolerance for disrespect.

Rajkummar and Patralekhaa, who dated for 11 years before tying the knot in 2021 at The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort in Chandigarh, have often been admired for their strong and supportive relationship.
