New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that its growing control over the education system would lead to the country’s downfall. Speaking at a protest at Jantar Mantar, organized by student organizations affiliated with the INDIA bloc, Gandhi warned that allowing RSS to dominate educational institutions would result in mass unemployment and economic collapse.
“One organisation wants to destroy the future and the education system of the country. That organisation is the RSS. If the education system goes into their hands, which is actually happening slowly, this country will be destroyed. No one will get jobs, and the country will be finished,” Gandhi said.
He further alleged that RSS influence is already shaping key appointments in higher education. “University vice-chancellors are being dominated by the RSS, and soon, state university VCs will also be appointed based on their recommendations. We must stop this,” he urged students.
Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for avoiding discussions on pressing issues like unemployment, inflation, and education. “Instead of addressing these concerns, the PM talks about the Maha Kumbh. Their model is simple—hand over resources to Adani and Ambani and institutions to the RSS,” he claimed.
Reaffirming unity within the INDIA bloc despite ideological differences, Gandhi emphasized that education is a red line they will not compromise on. “We will fight this battle together and push back the RSS,” he asserted.
