Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a rally in Srinagar, accusing the PM of focusing more on his “Mann ki Baat” radio program than addressing the critical issues facing the country. Gandhi’s remarks come just days ahead of the second phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

Speaking to a large crowd, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said, “Modi only talks about his ‘Mann ki Baat,’ but not about the ‘kaam ki baat,’ which should include providing jobs and controlling rising prices.” He criticized the government for failing to tackle unemployment and inflation, which he believes are the real concerns of the common people.

In a reference to Modi’s earlier claims of having a “56-inch chest,” Gandhi pointed out that the political atmosphere has changed. “Before the Lok Sabha elections, we constantly heard about Modi’s ’56-inch chest.’ But have you noticed his demeanor lately? The mood has shifted. The INDIA alliance and Congress have changed Modi’s psychology,” Gandhi added, to cheers from the audience.

As the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections approach, Gandhi highlighted that the growing influence of the INDIA alliance—a coalition of opposition parties—and the Congress party have forced a change in the Prime Minister’s approach. “These days, PM Modi’s face has changed, his mood has changed… and this is because of the INDIA alliance, Congress party, and the people of this country,” he stated.

Gandhi’s remarks reflect the Congress party’s confidence in challenging Modi’s leadership, as they attempt to gain momentum ahead of the upcoming polls. The second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections is set to take place on September 25, and both sides are intensifying their campaigns in the region.

The rally drew attention on social media as well, with video clips of Gandhi’s speech circulating widely. As the election season heats up, it is evident that both the ruling government and the opposition are gearing up for a fierce political battle.
