New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has raised serious allegations of electoral malpractice in Karnataka, claiming that over 6,000 votes were mysteriously deleted in the Aland constituency during the 2023 elections.
Speaking on the issue, Rahul Gandhi said: “Aland is a constituency in Karnataka. Somebody tried to delete 6,018 votes. We don’t know the total number of votes that were deleted in Aland in the 2023 election. They are much higher than 6,018, but somebody got caught deleting those 6,018 votes, and it was caught by coincidence.”
Detailing how the case came to light, he explained that a booth-level officer discovered her own uncle’s name missing from the rolls. On probing further, she found that her neighbor’s login ID was used to delete the vote, even though the neighbor denied doing so.
Rahul Gandhi stressed that this incident suggests a larger “force” had hijacked the system, overriding both voters and officials. “Neither the person deleting the vote nor the person whose vote was deleted knew. Some other force hijacked the process and deleted the vote,” he alleged.
