Washington D.C: Rahul Gandhi, while addressing an audience in the United States, has once again raised concerns over the integrity of India’s electoral process, particularly in Maharashtra. The Congress leader reiterated his claims of election fraud, stating that there is a “serious problem with the country’s election system.” Gandhi alleged that the Election Commission (EC) was compromised and cited the controversial addition of 65 lakh new names to voter lists in Maharashtra just five months before the state assembly elections.

Gandhi pointed out the unusual nature of these additions, questioning the legitimacy of the process and asserting that such a drastic change could not have been made in such a short time. “The numbers simply don’t add up,” he said.

The Election Commission, however, has firmly rejected these allegations, defending the transparency and integrity of the electoral process. In response, an EC spokesperson clarified that all procedures followed established guidelines and rules, emphasizing that the Special Summary Revision (SSR) process was conducted as per the prescribed norms to update voter rolls accurately.
