A day after quitting the Aam Aadmi Party and merging with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha strongly defended his decision, rejecting allegations that he left due to fear.
Speaking to reporters, Chadha said the move was driven by disappointment with the party’s direction and not any pressure.
“Darr kar nahi, humne Aam Aadmi Party chhodi hai,” he said, adding that the decision was taken after deep dissatisfaction with the internal functioning of the party.
He further claimed that many leaders who once built AAP with strong ideals are now leaving due to ideological drift and internal decay.
“Today, every true patriot who nurtured the Aam Aadmi Party with their blood and sweat has either left or is leaving,” Chadha said.
He added that the party had moved away from its founding values and was no longer aligned with the expectations of its early supporters.
“Every honest, hardworking person feels there is no longer room for work in AAP, and the party is now walking on a path no one wants to be associated with,” he said.
Chadha also defended the coordinated exit of seven Rajya Sabha MPs, saying it reflected collective concern over the party’s direction.
“Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, but seven MPs are leaving together because they believe AAP has fallen into compromised hands,” he said.
“We left not out of fear but after being disappointed. We left AAP out of disgust,” he added.
