Parvesh Verma Calls Kejriwal ‘Rehman Dacoit of Delhi’
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Parvesh Verma on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Arvind Kejriwal, calling him the “Rehman Dacoit of Delhi” and accusing him of hypocrisy over his lifestyle.
At a press conference, Verma alleged that Kejriwal had moved into yet another luxurious government bungalow, which he described as “Sheesh Mahal 2”, mocking the AAP chief’s earlier promises of living like a common man.
“Delhi ka Sheesh Mahal 2 hum apko dikhane ja rahe hain,” Verma said while presenting visuals that he claimed were from Kejriwal’s new residence.
BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Luxury Politics
Verma claimed that after losing support in Delhi, Kejriwal shifted his political focus to Punjab while continuing to enjoy lavish privileges.
“Delhi ke voters ne is ‘Rehman dacoit’ ko hara diya, toh woh Punjab chale gaye. Bhagwant Mann pareshaan hai,” Verma said, alleging that the AAP leadership had become disconnected from the people.
Fresh ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Allegations Surface
The BJP leader also targeted Kejriwal’s recent move to a government bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate, saying it exposed the gap between his promises and actions.
“Kal woh 95 Lodhi Estate mein shift hue hain, jo bolte the aam aadmi ki tarah rahunga,” Verma said.
Referring to Kejriwal’s earlier official residence, Verma added, “When I visited the earlier ‘Sheesh Mahal’, I wondered how someone could sleep in such a luxurious house.”
The BJP has repeatedly used the “Sheesh Mahal” allegation to attack Kejriwal, accusing him of using public funds for extravagant personal comfort.
AAP Rejects Claims, Threatens Legal Action
Responding to the allegations, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh dismissed the BJP’s claims as fabricated and politically motivated.
In a post on X, Singh called the visuals “completely fake” and warned that Verma and media channels airing them would face defamation proceedings.

He also challenged Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena and Parvesh Verma to open their residences to the public, saying Kejriwal would do the same.
“The public will then see whose house is truly luxurious,” Singh said.
BJP Steps Up Attack Amid AAP Internal Crisis
The attack on Kejriwal comes amid a major internal crisis for the Aam Aadmi Party after seven Rajya Sabha MPs — including Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak — quit the party and joined the BJP.
The mass defection has dealt a severe blow to AAP’s national ambitions, with the BJP using the moment to intensify political pressure on Kejriwal and his leadership.
The BJP formally welcomed the defecting MPs, saying they would now work toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”.
Social Media Offensive Adds to Political Pressure
Alongside Verma’s remarks, the Delhi BJP escalated its campaign on social media by releasing a stylised poster portraying Kejriwal as an authoritarian figure abandoned by party workers.
The poster, carrying the lines “A Film By – AAP-da” and “Directed by Arvind Kejriwal”, suggested growing disillusionment within the party and framed the political developments as a collapse of Kejriwal’s leadership.
