Tension escalated in political circles after workers linked to the Aam Aadmi Party allegedly protested outside the residence of former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh, following his reported move to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Walls defaced with ‘Gaddar’ slogan
According to reports, protesters wrote “Gaddar” (traitor) in black paint on the exterior walls of Harbhajan Singh’s residence. Videos from the spot show the slogan clearly written despite the presence of security personnel. Harbhajan Singh was not at home during the incident and has not yet issued any public response regarding either the protest or his political shift.
Political backlash after mass AAP exit
Chadha defends decision, rejects ‘fear’ charge
Amid the controversy, Raghav Chadha defended the collective exit, rejecting allegations that the MPs left out of fear. He said the decision was driven by disappointment with AAP’s direction and not pressure from any external force.
“And those who are saying this, especially Aam Aadmi Party leaders, that we left AAP out of fear, we did not leave out of fear but after being disappointed with AAP. We left not out of fear but disgusted with AAP,” Chadha said.
Growing political tension on ground and online
The defacement of Harbhajan Singh’s residence has added a new layer of tension to an already heated political environment. The mass resignations have significantly weakened AAP’s position in Parliament while strengthening the BJP’s numbers.
