Opposition parties criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fuel-saving appeal, accusing the government of shifting economic responsibility onto citizens amid global tensions.

Pune: A Pune court has summoned Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in connection with a defamation case filed by a relative of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar.

The case stems from a remark made by Rahul Gandhi about Savarkar during his visit to London. Taking strong exception to Gandhi’s comments, the complainant, a family member of Savarkar, moved the court seeking legal action.

Responding to the complaint, the court has directed Rahul Gandhi to appear in person on May 9, 2025.
