President Droupadi Murmu Approves 127 Gallantry Awards, Honours Heroic Acts of Indian Armed Forces

New Delhi: The central government on Wednesday released a Gazette notification recognising the bravery and service of Indian Armed Forces personnel, with gallantry awards spanning operations including Operation Sindoor and Operation Sindoor. The honours highlight acts of courage and strategic leadership by members of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Central Armed Police Forces.

President Droupadi Murmu approved 127 Gallantry awards and 40 Distinguished Service awards, which include 04 Kirti Chakras, 15 Vir Chakras, 16 Shaurya Chakras, 02 Bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 58 Sena Medals (Gallantry), 06 Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry), 26 Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry), 07 Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medals, 09 Uttam Yudh Seva Medals, and 24 Yudh Seva Medals.

Additionally, 290 personnel received Mention-in-Despatches, including 115 from the Army, 5 from the Navy, 167 from the Air Force, and 3 from the Border Roads Development Board (BRDB).

Among the notable awardees, Colonel Koshank Lamba of the 302 Medium Regiment received the Vir Chakra for flawless leadership during the first-ever air mobilization of a specialized equipment battery, ensuring timely induction for an operation carried out with complete secrecy. Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht of the 1988 (Independent) Medium Battery was awarded the Vir Chakra for leading his unit to a decisive success in a counter-terrorism operation, destroying enemy camps through exceptional courage.

In the Indian Air Force, Group Captain Ranjeet Singh Sidhu received the Vir Chakra for exemplary leadership during a high-risk strike mission against fortified targets, successfully achieving all objectives. Group Captain Animesh Patni, commanding a Surface-to-Air Missile squadron, was recognised for exceptional precision in neutralising adversaries while safeguarding his unit. Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik earned the Vir Chakra for his gallantry during a midnight strike mission in heavily defended enemy airspace. The mission involved tactical low-level navigation, precise weapon delivery, and evasion of state-of-the-art air defence systems.
