Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis has slammed MVA government after BJP leader Kirit Somaiya’s car was attacked by Shiv Sena workers at Khar police station, the lawmaker couple who was arrested over giving a call to chant Hanuman Chalisa outside the residence of Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. He also wrote a letter to Home Ministry alleging that Mumbai police is acting like a slave of the MVA government and take strict action againt them.
The incident occurred after Kirit Somaiya visited Rana family at Khar police station, “His car was attacked and stones hurled at him in front of Police,” said Devendra Fadnavis in his letter.
Fadnavis also wrote that Kirit informed the police station that he is coming to meet Rana family and asked them to disperse the crowd as his life is in danger.
“Kirit Somaiya asked Police to get rid of the Shiv Sena workers which had gathered near the police station as his life could be in danger, however, police ignored what he said,” wrote Devendra Fadnavis.
“Police is acting like a slave of MVA government and they have not taken any action against it”, he concluded.
However, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has hit out at the saffron party’s proposed visit to Delhi, calling it a drama. “A delegation with 2-4 people is going (to Delhi) & what happened in Maharashtra? Someone bled a little (referring to BJP leader Kirit Somaiya)… if you have a problem, meet the Maharashtra CM, but you’re going to Delhi, what is this?,” Raut told reporters.
