PM Modi Slams Opposition, Highlights BJP’s Commitment to Farmers Through PM-KISAN Scheme

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, accusing them of spreading misinformation and failing to deliver on promises made to farmers, while asserting that the BJP-led government has transformed the agricultural sector with schemes rooted in commitment and delivery.

Addressing a farmers’ gathering in Kashi, PM Modi praised the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, calling it a shining example of “strong political will and honest intention”, in stark contrast to the “anti-development mentality” of parties like the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress.

“Our government is working tirelessly for the welfare of farmers. The earlier governments did not even fulfil one scheme they had promised. The BJP government delivers what it promises,” Modi said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.

He noted that the PM-KISAN scheme, which provides direct income support to farmers, has continued uninterrupted since its inception, underscoring the government’s focus on systemic support rather than hollow slogans.

“So far, ₹3.75 lakh crore have been transferred directly into the accounts of beneficiary farmers. Just the farmers of Kashi have received ₹900 crore under this scheme,” the Prime Minister declared.

Without naming specific opposition leaders, Modi accused rival parties of misleading farmers with lies and rumours, calling them “hopeless” and “anti-farmer.”

“This is very unfortunate for the country that a hopeless opposition is living with these false hopes. All they can do is lie to the farmers and mislead them,” he added.

Modi emphasized that the difference between his government and the previous regimes lies in execution and intent. He asserted that while past governments announced schemes with no follow-through, the BJP’s track record proves its credibility on ground-level implementation.

The PM also linked the agricultural development to broader rural reforms, highlighting upcoming initiatives in irrigation, crop insurance, fertilizer availability, and the expansion of agricultural markets through digital infrastructure and FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations).
