PM Modi Mourn Passing of BJP Stalwart Vijay Kumar Malhotra at 93

New Delhi: The political world in India bid farewell to veteran BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, who passed away at AIIMS Delhi on Tuesday morning at the age of 93. Malhotra, the first president of the Delhi BJP and a former MP, had been undergoing treatment in recent days and breathed his last at around 6 am.

In a statement, AIIMS Delhi confirmed: “Vijay Kumar Malhotra, a senior BJP leader aged 93 years, was admitted to AIIMS New Delhi, where he passed away in the morning of 30th September 2025.”

Condoling the demise, the Delhi BJP highlighted Malhotra’s life as a shining example of simplicity, dedication, and public service. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said, “Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra Ji’s life was a beacon of commitment to public service. From his days in the Jana Sangh to his role in strengthening the BJP in Delhi, he tirelessly propagated the ideology of the RSS. His life will remain an inspiration to all BJP members.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute on X, stating, “Shri Vijay Kumar Malhotra Ji distinguished himself as an outstanding leader, with a deep understanding of people’s issues. He played a vital role in strengthening our Party in Delhi and is remembered for his parliamentary interventions. Pained by his passing away. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.” Modi also visited Malhotra’s residence in New Delhi to pay his last respects.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described Malhotra as a seasoned parliamentarian and constitutional expert, saying, “In the history of the Jana Sangh and BJP, stalwarts like Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra hold a special place. He worked tirelessly among the people and for the party. Condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”
