Washington, D.C.: US President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the White House in February. Speaking aboard Air Force One on his return to Joint Base Andrews from Florida, Trump described his morning phone conversation with Modi as “productive” and hinted at plans for a bilateral meeting next month.

“I had a long talk with him this morning (Monday). He is going to be coming to the White House, over next month, probably February. We have a very good relationship with India,” Trump said.

The conversation reportedly covered a wide range of topics, including trade, regional security, and defense cooperation. A White House readout confirmed that both leaders discussed strengthening India-US ties and pursuing a “fair” bilateral trading relationship.

The two leaders also delved into regional and global issues such as security in the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe. “The President emphasized the importance of India increasing its procurement of American-made security equipment and advancing a fair trading relationship,” the White House added.

This phone call marks another step in reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two nations, with a focus on expanding trade and security cooperation. If confirmed, this visit will further underscore the deepening ties between India and the United States.
