Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Mumbai today, October 5, to inaugurate Phase 1 of the much-anticipated underground Metro 3 line (BKC-JVLR Aarey). This vital infrastructure project is part of a broader initiative, as Modi will unveil multiple development projects totaling over ₹56,000 crore across the state. Among these initiatives is the ₹12,220-crore Thane internal metro, featuring 20 elevated stations and two underground stations over a 29-kilometre route.
The Prime Minister commenced his visit in Washim, where he inaugurated the Banjara Virasat Museum, a celebration of the rich heritage of the Banjara community. Modi’s visit underscores his government’s ongoing focus on infrastructure development, especially in the lead-up to the upcoming state elections. Over recent months, he has inaugurated several long-pending projects in Mumbai and Maharashtra, including the coastal road and Atal Setu, all aligning with the BJP’s strategy of showcasing infrastructure development as a cornerstone of their campaign.
Modi’s recent visits to Maharashtra have further highlighted the government’s infrastructure push. Earlier this year, he inaugurated projects worth over ₹29,400 crore, including the Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project and the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road, both of which were conceptualized during Fadnavis’s tenure. These initiatives aim not only to alleviate congestion but also to ensure sustainable growth for Mumbai’s future.
Fadnavis, recognized for his proactive approach, established a dedicated war room to monitor infrastructure project progress, collaborating closely with agencies like the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). This strategy helped streamline project execution and mitigate bureaucratic delays, ensuring timely completion.
As PM Modi inaugurates another milestone in Mumbai’s infrastructure journey today, the Mahayuti government anticipates that these projects will provide a much-needed boost to both the city and the state. The foundation laid by Fadnavis continues to shape Maharashtra’s urban and regional landscape, ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of India’s economic and infrastructural growth.
